Pharmacological action:

• Vasodilator, hypotensive, decreases permeability and increases capillary resistance, stimulates CNS, capillary tonic, antiplatelet agent.
• Through the active principles it contains, garlic has antimicrobial action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, antifungal, vermifuge.
• Due to the presence of allicin, treatment with garlic can limit certain viral infections (herpetic, influenza) the mechanism of action consisting in the interference of allicin with viral nucleic acids, limiting their proliferation.
• The major property of the product is determined by garlic's ability to act as an antiatherosclerotic agent, lowering serum triglycerides and cholesterol, through the mechanism of eliminating bile salts and inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver.
• It also has antiplatelet action; at the level of the cardiovascular system, it has a hypotensive effect - both on systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
• Propolis completes these actions thanks to its antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral properties. It is also a stimulator of the immune system, being considered a biological response modifier (BRM). Through flavonoids, propolis intervenes: at the level of the capillary system, causing an increase in resistance, a decrease in fragility and permeability, it directly influences the cardiovascular system through vasodilatation and a decrease in blood pressure.
