KERMA gauze compresses – versatile wound dressing made of cotton

KERMA gauze compresses are classic wound dressings made of 17-thread cotton gauze, available in 8- or 12-ply versions. The folded edge prevents fraying. The compresses are soft, breathable, and highly absorbent, making them suitable for daily wound care in medical settings. They are available both sterile (steam-sterilized at 134°C) and non-sterile, depending on requirements and application.

Areas of application and everyday benefits

KERMA gauze dressings are used for general wound care. They can be used to cover acute and chronic wounds, for wound cleansing, and as a carrier for ointments. Their absorbency reliably absorbs wound exudate, thus promoting a clean wound environment. The breathable structure of the gauze also allows for good wound ventilation.

Instructions for use

Depending on the wound size, select an appropriate compress size and layering (8-ply or 12-ply). For use in sterile areas, use the sterile-packed gauze compresses and open the peel pack or sterile pouch immediately before use. Apply the compress directly to the affected area and secure it with a suitable bandage or adhesive plaster if necessary. Non-sterile gauze compresses are suitable, among other things, for cleaning the skin or for external coverage when sterility is not required.

Important instructions

For open wounds, always use only undamaged, sterile-packaged gauze compresses. If the product is visibly soiled or the packaging is damaged, it must not be used. The compresses do not contain a radiopaque thread and are therefore not suitable for applications requiring X-ray monitoring. If you experience any signs of intolerance or if the wound condition worsens, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
