• At birth, the natural defense mechanisms are not well developed and therefore the newborn is particularly exposed to blepharitis and conjunctivitis.

1. Because of this, a special precaution is necessary in the hygiene of the newborn.
2. Special care is required both with the objects that come into contact with the child, and with the people who touch him.
3. People who come into direct contact with the newborn must be subject to correct personal hygiene.

• Some paraphysiological anatomical conditions, such as lacrimal duct stenosis, can be the cause of frequent conjunctivitis, even infections of the lacrimal glands and ducts.
• The role of parents in ensuring a correct eye hygiene of the child becomes fundamental.

1. Correct periocular hygiene with IRIDIUM of the newborn and the child
2. Wash your hands thoroughly.
3. Open the sachet, extract the tissue and unfold it.
4. Gently clean the eyelid and eyelashes by passing the tissue several times over the area.

• In case of adhesion secretions:
• First squeeze the contents of the tissue on the closed eye.
• Then remove the secretions with the same tissue.
• In case of persistent secretions and/or obstruction of the tear ducts with swelling of the periocular area:
• First place the unopened sachet in warm water (approx. 40 degrees Celsius).
• Then wipe several times with the tissue, keeping the eye closed.
• In case of obstruction of the tear ducts, gently massage the area.
• In the presence of inflammation:
• Keep the unopened sachet in the fridge for a few hours.
• Then pass the cold tissue over the closed eye several times.
