Lyme disease test for testing the tick Te 3 St
Description
Veritest Lyme Disease Test – Rapid tick test for direct pathogen detection
The Veritest Lyme disease test is a rapid immunological test for the quick and qualitative detection of Borrelia bacteria directly in the removed tick. It helps to better assess the risk of a possible Lyme disease infection after a tick bite. Since there is currently no vaccine against Borrelia, early diagnosis and subsequent antibiotic therapy can help reduce long-term consequences and complications. The test uses modern immunological techniques to detect Borrelia bacteria directly in the tick material, thus enabling a faster diagnostic assessment. The test can be performed immediately after the tick bite, providing results significantly sooner compared to many laboratory methods.
Function and benefits
The Veritest Lyme disease test detects the pathogen itself – Borrelia bacteria in the tick – and not just antibodies in the human body. Many common detection methods for Lyme disease, on the other hand, are based on the detection of antibodies, the determination of which is often difficult to interpret and whose laboratory results may only be available after 6–8 weeks. By directly detecting the pathogen in the tick, this test facilitates faster diagnostic classification by medical professionals. Inside the test cassette is a test strip with a test region (T) and a control region (C), which become visible in the reaction window. The labeling next to the window indicates the respective test and control regions and makes it easier to read the result.
Application and sampling
For sample collection, the attached tick should be removed as quickly as possible. It is important to avoid squeezing the tick's body. No oils or adhesives should be applied to the tick, as this can impair the sample. After removal, the tick is brought into contact with the test cassette according to the instructions, and the sample is inserted into the test strip through the sample opening. After the reaction time, the result can be read in the reaction window based on the test region (T) and the control region (C). Always follow the enclosed instructions for use for precise handling and interpretation.
Important information and precautions
A negative test result does not definitively rule out an infection. If a Lyme disease infection is suspected, careful clinical observation is still recommended, as unnoticed bites from other ticks may have occurred. The test serves to assess the risk after a tick bite and does not replace a medical diagnosis or treatment. If you are unsure about the interpretation of the result or if you experience symptoms after a tick bite, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. Always follow the instructions for use and use the product only as directed.
- Immunological rapid test for the qualitative detection of Borrelia directly in the removed tick
- Enables an early assessment of the infection risk after a tick bite
- Direct pathogen detection in the tick instead of delayed antibody detection in the blood
- A negative result does not definitively rule out infection – clinical observation remains important
