This long-awaited textbook on anesthesiology and intensive care, prepared by authors from various academic centers across the country, covers the most important topics in this field of medicine, including those relevant to PES. The authors discuss the latest news and guidelines in anesthesiology and intensive care, along with practical tips and observations. This is a reliable source of knowledge for young medical students.

Many years have passed since the publication of the last textbook, "Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care," edited by Professor Bogdan Kamiński and Professor Andrzej Kübler. Since then, significant progress has been made in medical science and in anaesthesiology and intensive care itself.

At the urging of Professor Ewa Mayzner-Zawadzka, for which I am very grateful, PZWL approached me with a proposal to publish a new textbook for students of medical faculties.

Many people from most academic centers in Poland undertook the effort to write the book you hold in your hands. I hope it will contribute to the exploration of the secrets of this incredibly interesting and fundamental specialty in healthcare.
