- Linezoid: when used concomitantly with dextromethorphan hydrobromide, serotonin syndrome may occur;
- CYP2D6 inhibitors: Concomitant use of strong CYP2D6 inhibitors may increase dextromethorphan concentrations to levels many times higher than normal. Strong CYP2D6 inhibitors include fluoxetine, paroxetine, quinidine, and terbinafine. Amiodarone, flecainide and propafenone, sertraline, bupropion, methadone, cinacalcet, haloperidol, perphenazine, and thioridazine also have a similar effect on dextromethorphan metabolism.
