The leaves of Betula verrucosa Ehrh., fam. Betulaceae, which contains triterpene saponosides, flavones, proanthocyanidins, volatile oil, monoterpene glucosides, caffeic acid derivatives, vitamin C, tannins, mineral salts.
Effect:
Diuretic, eliminates uric acid, litholytic (dissolves stones), depurative, anti-inflammatory, hypotensive, hypocholesterolemic, antifebrile, sudorific.
Main uses:
Edema (accumulation of water in the tissues), urinary infections and inflammations, urinary lithiasis.
Other uses:
Rheumatism, gout, skin diseases, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity.

An infusion is prepared from 1 teaspoon of the crushed plant to a cup of water.
