Runaplax contains rivaroxaban as the active substance and is used in adults for:
- to prevent blood clots from forming in the veins after hip or knee replacement surgery.
Your doctor has prescribed this medicine because you are at increased risk of blood clots after having an operation. - to treat blood clots in the veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and in the
blood vessels in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and to prevent the recurrence of blood clots in the blood vessels of the legs and/or lungs.
Runaplax belongs to a group of medicines called antithrombotic medicines.
It works by blocking a clotting factor (factor Xa), thus reducing the tendency of the blood to form clots.
Do not take Runaplax:
- if you are allergic to rivaroxaban or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Runaplax.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Do not take Runaplax if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If there is a possibility of becoming pregnant, use an effective method of contraception while taking Runaplax.
If you become pregnant while using this medicine, tell your doctor immediately, who will decide what is best for you.

Driving and using machines:
Runaplax may cause dizziness (common side effect) or fainting (uncommon side effect) (see section 4 “Possible side effects”).
You should not drive, ride a bike, or use any tools or machinery if you have these symptoms.
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
To prevent blood clots from forming in the veins after hip or knee replacement surgery.
The recommended dose is one tablet (10 mg) once a day.
To treat blood clots that have formed in the veins of the legs and in the blood vessels of the lungs and to prevent blood clots from recurring.
After at least 6 months of treatment for blood clots, the recommended dose is either one 10 mg tablet once a day or one 20 mg tablet once a day.
Swallow the tablet, preferably with water.
Runaplax can be taken with or without food.
The active substance is rivaroxaban.
Each film-coated tablet contains 10 mg rivaroxaban.
The other components are:
Tablet core: lactose monohydrate, sodium lauryl sulfate, hypromellose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica.
Tablet film-coating: hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol, talc, sunset yellow FCF aluminium lake (E 110), red iron oxide (E 172).
