Simeticon Al Emulsion 50 ml
Description
Gentle help for the little ones: Simethicone AL emulsion
The first few months of a baby's life can be challenging for new parents, especially when the baby cries for no apparent reason. These crying spells can be caused by digestive problems: air and gas buildup in the gastrointestinal tract leads to bloating and painful colic. While these symptoms are usually harmless, they are distressing for the baby. Parents therefore look for a gentle solution.
Treatment of three-month colic
Simethicone AL Emulsion offers gentle relief from colic in infants. The active ingredient simethicone, which has proven effective in many cases, works purely physically. It reduces the surface tension of the gas bubbles in the stomach, thereby breaking down the foam and allowing the gas to escape naturally, for example, as a burp. Due to its good tolerability, simethicone is suitable for infants and acts only locally in the intestines, without entering the bloodstream.
Application and dosage
The dosage of Simethicone AL Emulsion varies depending on the application. Without medical advice:
- Infants and bottle-fed babies: 10-20 drops (0.3-0.6 ml) per bottle. Simethicone mixes well with milk. For breastfed babies, simply administer with a spoon before feeding.
- Toddlers: 20 drops (0.6 ml) during or after meals. If needed, another 20 drops before bedtime.
- School children: 30-40 drops (0.9-1.2 ml), adults: 40-60 drops (1.2-1.8 ml) every 4-6 hours. Take during or after meals and, if necessary, before bedtime.
Shake the bottle well before use. To dispense drops, hold the bottle upright and tap the bottom lightly. The duration of use depends on the symptoms, but should not exceed four consecutive weeks without consulting a doctor.
Frequency and causes of infant colic
Three-month colic, as the discomfort in the first few months of life is called, can rob babies and parents of sleep. The cause is often the change to new foods, and sometimes gas gets into the stomach while feeding. The pain can intensify, especially at night when the baby is lying down, which is stressful for the whole family.
Tips for relief
Loving care and rest are essential for three-month colic. Warmth, for example from a cherry pit pillow, and gentle clockwise abdominal massages can bring relief. The "airplane hold" is another proven method. Simethicone AL emulsion can also provide gentle support.
The Scream Diary
A crying diary can be a valuable tool for identifying the causes of a child's distress. Parents note when and under what circumstances the crying occurs and what measures help. This makes it possible to address the child's needs specifically and find suitable calming methods.
