Vincristine sulfate is part of a class of drugs called antimitotic cytostatics.
These drugs inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
Vincristine Teva is usually used together with other medicines to treat:
• acute lymphocytic leukemia, which is a rapidly developing cancer in which the body produces a large number of immature white blood cells.
• Hodgkin's disease, a cancer of the lymphatic system.
• non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes other than Hodgkin's disease.
• small cell lung cancer.
• rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the muscles.
• Ewing sarcoma, a type of bone cancer.
• hematomas (internal bleeding) associated with a reduction in platelet count (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura).
• Adrenal medullary cancer (the central part of the adrenal gland).
• primitive neuroectodermal tumor, which is a cancer of a part of the nervous system.
Wilms tumor, a type of kidney cancer
• breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
• multiple myeloma, which is a cancer of the cells of the immune system.
• retinoblastoma, a type of eye cancer.

DO NOT use Vincristine Teva if:
• you are allergic to vincristine sulfate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Vincristine Teva should only be used under the strict supervision of doctors experienced in the treatment of cytostatics (medicines used to treat cancer).

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Task:
• Vincristine treatment is not recommended during pregnancy.
• Contraceptive measures must be taken by both men and women during treatment and for 6 months after completion of treatment.
• As soon as you suspect that you are pregnant or if you want to have children, you should seek medical advice.
• There are no adequate data on the use of vincristine sulfate during pregnancy in humans to determine possible harmful effects. This drug has had harmful effects in animal tests.
Breastfeeding:
• You should NOT breast-feed while you are being treated with Vincristine Teva.
Fertility:
• Vincristine may have an anti-fertility effect, which may be irreversible. Therefore, it is recommended that male patients do not father a child during treatment or for 6 months after the end of treatment and seek advice on sperm storage (sperm banking) prior to treatment.

Driving and using machines:
Treatment with Vincristine Teva can sometimes cause side effects in the central nervous system, such as decreased reflexes, muscle weakness and vision problems, and in the gastrointestinal tract (see “Possible side effects”). If you experience any of these side effects, DO NOT drive or use any machines that require your attention.

- The active substance is vincristine sulfate, 1 mg per ml of injectable liquid.
- The other ingredients are: mannitol, sulfuric acid and/or sodium hydroxide and water for injections.
