Aquacel Extra is a soft, sterile, non-woven wound dressing or tamponade made of sodium carboxymethylcellulose and regenerated cellulose fiber for reinforcement. This highly absorbent dressing soaks up wound exudate and forms a soft gel. The gel keeps the wound moist and creates an optimal environment for wound healing. Aquacel supports the healing process and facilitates the removal of dead tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement) without damaging newly formed tissue.

Indications:
Aquacel Extra is suitable for the treatment of acute and chronic moderately to heavily exuding wounds:
- Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (grades II-IV) and diabetic ulcers.
- Surgical wounds (e.g., postoperative wounds with secondary healing and split-thickness skin graft donor sites).
- Second-degree burns.
- Traumatic wounds (e.g. lacerations, abrasions and cuts).
- Exudate absorption in oncological wounds (ulcerating skin tumors, skin metastases and Kaposi's sarcoma).
Exudate volume:
Moderate to high.
