LEVURIN® sachets

Composition:

Ingredients/sachet: Saccharomyces boulardii 250 mg, inulin 1000 mg.

Properties:

• Saccharomyces boulardii is a yeast resistant to the action of gastric and intestinal juices, antibiotics and sulfonamides. As a yeast, Saccharomyces boulardii is sensitive to antifungal antibiotics and some quinolinic antifungals
• Clinical studies (N. A. Nieslafsi, O. Correa, Francisco J. Penna, Fatima M.L.S. Lima, Jacques R. Nicol and Luciano A.P. Filho, Treatment of acute diarrhea with Saccharomyces boulardii in infants, JPGN 2011; 53:497-502; Lyanne McFarland, Systematic review and meta-analysis of Saccharomyces boulardii in adult patients, World J. Gastroenterology 2010 May 14; 16(18):2202-2222) have shown that Saccharomyces boulardii has significant results in combating infectious diarrhea and Clostridium difficile infection
• Inulin is a prebiotic from the fructan class that supports the proliferation of bifidobacteria in the large intestine.

Actions:

• Contributes to the maintenance of normal intestinal flora
• Helps to the normal functioning of intestinal transit
• Creates an unfavorable biochemical environment for microorganisms with pathogenic potential.

How to use:

• Recommended dose: 1–2 sachets/day
• It is administered orally. Doses can be increased with the doctor's advice if there are no contraindications
• Can be administered at any time of the day
• For optimal results, it is recommended to avoid administration during meals
• It should not be mixed with hot liquids or those containing alcohol
• It can be dissolved in water, tea, fruit juices, yogurt, fruit or vegetable purees, etc.
• Pour the contents of the dose and mix until the powder dissolves
• It can be administered simultaneously with the antibiotic dose.

Possible adverse reactions:

• This product may cause adverse reactions, although not everyone gets them
• Slight gastrointestinal disturbances and abdominal bloating may occur, which do not necessarily require discontinuation of administration
• Caution is recommended when administering Saccharomyces boulardii to immunocompromised patients or those with central venous catheters
• Clinical studies have shown a minimal risk of fungemia (presence of fungi or yeasts in the blood)
• In the event that patients are under antifungal treatment, at least 4 hours are recommended before administering Saccharomyces boulardii.

Recommendations:

Adjuvant in acute infectious diarrhea and Clostridium difficile infection.

Warnings:

• This is a food supplement. Read the package leaflet/information carefully
• Use preferably by the date stated on the package
• Store at temperatures below 25°C
• Keep out of the reach and sight of small children
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose
