Cestaguard Cat 1 tablet
Description
Target species:
kitten
Age:
Adult, Junior, Senior
Indications:
Treatment of mixed infestations with the following species of gastrointestinal nematodes and cestodes: Nematodes: Toxocara cati. Toxascaris leonina. Cestodes: Dipylidium caninum, Taenia taeniformis, Echinococcus multilocularis.Active substances:
Pyrantel, Praziquantel
Amounts to administer:
Oral administration. To ensure a correct dosage, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. The recommended dosage is: 20 mg pyrantel/kg and 5 mg praziquantel/kg. This is equivalent to 1 tablet per 4 kg body weight. The tablets can be given directly to the cat or incorporated into the food. It is not necessary to starve the animal before or after treatment. In the case of roundworm infestation, especially in kittens, complete elimination cannot be guaranteed, so the risk of infection for humans may persist.
If there is a risk of reinfestation, veterinary advice should be sought on the need and frequency of repeat administration.
Route of administration:
Oral
Special warnings for each target species:
Fleas serve as intermediate hosts for a common type of flatworm, Dipylidium caninum. Infestation with segmented flatworms is certain to recur unless intermediate hosts, such as fleas and mice, are controlled. If there is a risk of reinfestation, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian to determine the need and frequency of repeated administration in cats. Local epidemiological information and the cat's living conditions should be taken into account. It is also important to eliminate possible sources of reinfestation, such as fleas and mice.
Parasitic resistance to a particular class of anthelmintics may occur following frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic from this class.
Special precautions for use:
Special precautions for safe use in target species: As the tablets are flavoured, they should be stored in a safe place, out of reach of animals. Animals in poor health or with a heavy infestation, which may manifest itself by symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, the presence of parasites in the faeces and vomit, but also a poor condition of the coat, should be examined by a veterinarian before administering the product. In severely debilitated cats or with a heavy infestation, it should only be used according to the benefit/risk assessment carried out by the responsible veterinarian. Not to be used during pregnancy. Can be used during lactation.
