Compared to normal intimate hygiene care, stoma cleaning must respect the physiological conditions of two very different areas:
- the stoma, which is not a simple mucosa, but part of the intestine. It has an acidic pH (3.5), has the ability to absorb some of the substances it comes into contact with, but is not protected by keratin cells, and is therefore easily irritated and must not come into contact with cytotoxic or histotoxic solutions.
- the skin, which despite being protected by a stratum corneum, is easily attacked by digestive juices or urine. With a pH of around 5.0, it requires constant hydration to restore the physiological lipolipid film, which is continually removed by the adhesive devices used to collect the fluids.
A product intended for stoma hygiene must have a self-balancing pH, meaning it contributes to restoring the correct acidity of the different areas (stoma-skin).
It must be free of substances that can cause skin alterations or allergies (soaps, petrolatum, parabens, silicones, allergenic perfumes, alcohol).
It must be enriched with hydrating and emollient active ingredients.
Stoma Plus used daily prevents the onset of irritation, mycosis and skin alterations.

How to use
Maximum attention must be paid to the cleansing procedure.
The Bioderm Stoma Plus dermo-detergent should not be used pure but diluted in warm water at the moment of use.
When cleaning and drying, it's always best to avoid using sponges, which are rough and can trap unwanted germs, and paper towels, which can cause irritation from rubbing and leave residue that can stick to the skin.
We recommend using professional Bioderm cloths that are biodegradable, disposable, soft, delicate and leave no residue.
